So long, 2024

So 2024...it's a wrap!     I checked to see where the phrase "it's a wrap" originated and found it started in the early movie making days...said when filming was finished for a movie.

Seems like a good thing to say for the end of 2024!

Our small family holiday get-together was in mid December. Plenty of food and good conversation.

And a good time for family photos.

I see I am the "shorty" in the family.

I had some sewing time this month.  I was ready to continue machine quilting my tumbling blocks quilt but old lazy Puss decided it was a perfect place for a nap.

I'm making good progress on this embroidery piece that Bonnie Hunter handed out on the London trip.  I don't have any experience with embroidery. I'm not sure I love this enough to finish it into a table topper.  We'll see.

I sewed and pressed two quilt blocks for a game at the Crazy Quilters group Christmas party.  Each member received a section of the dark swirly fabric to combine at home with their own fabrics to make a block.  Afterwards we'll use the blocks together for a donation quilt.

Here are the ladies in the Crazy Quilters group at our Christmas party...minus one who snapped the photo and one unable to attend.

We joined with another sewing group on party day so there was lots of food on the buffet table.

At our book club, some brought small gifts to give out.  A small notebook with a magnetized latch, and a colorful loom woven bookmark. Both are lovely and useful.

A few members were unable to be there. We snapped this photo to send to a member in the hospital.

We were shocked and saddened when we later learned her condition was very serious and she passed away just before Christmas.

The Sasquatch made a batch of savory pies. A filling of ground pork, mini potatoes and shallots in his homemade crust.
He brought this one for me...a tasty mix of shallots and potatoes.

I made a batch of soup today. Sort of a turkey chili but I didn't have any chili powder.
Just a small batch.

In the New Year, I'd like to get back to writing here regularly.  I like to have it as a journal to look back on, plus, I feel like writing is good exercise for the brain. I could use more of that.

Okay, See ya!  Happy New Year!
