February got off to a bad start for this Amazon driver. He decided to turn around by backing into my front yard (which was very soft from all that melted snow) then couldn't get back on the driveway.
To make matters worse, he ended up with his back tires off on one side and his front tires off on the other.
He asked me if I had anything to help him get out. I told him I didn't but then asked him to bring some dirt later and get my yard smoothed back out (knowing that he wouldn't).
He spent a bit of time spinning his wheels while waiting for a tow truck to arrive.
I contacted Amazon about the damage, even though it wasn't that bad. I just wanted someone to take responsibility for problems caused by a bad decision.
There was a chunk crumbled out of the driveway edge too. Amazon did provide a little settlement after me making two long phone calls and filling out forms and emailing pictures.
The thing is...there is plenty of room to turn around further up the driveway. No need to back into the soggy yard or the busy highway.
It was just a few months ago that the mailman pulled off the driveway and was stuck.
He had to call a tow truck too.
A few years ago, a Fed Ex truck was also stuck in about this same spot. That company did send someone out with a few bags of dirt to fill in the ruts left behind.
For a happier change of subject...I received this big box of Honeybell oranges, a gift from a niece. She sends them in memory of her father, Charlie, who always used to send them as a late Christmas gift. A sweet and welcome surprise.
I thought February would bring us a few sunny days but instead we keep getting more blankets of snow.
Pretty, but enough of that already!
