More so looking back on it than when it actually happened.
Things can happen so fast and unexpectedly...it takes a few seconds to fully comprehend a situation and react.
We were fine and nothing was lost but it did make us think more about self defense.
One of the things we decided on was buying some pepper spray.
Lonnie chose a cute little pink one for me. It coordinates so nicely with my phone case and camera case.
I have been watching some YouTube videos of people getting sprayed with pepper spray...it certainly looks painful.
The important thing is to spray them right in the eyes!
Also, it's a good thing to have handy if you're out for a walk and a dog tries to bite you!
I have to agree, having personal defense at hand is GENERALLY a good idea. I wrote GENERALLY because as a tourist I'd bet that you didn't know that in DC you have to register with the police to carry "defense spray". They have a specific formula that it must conform to. Violations can result in a $1000 fine and/or one year in jail. When seconds count the police are only minutes away...
