Quilting Bees Christmas party

My quilt group, Mt Washington Quilting Bees, had our Christmas party earlier this week.

We all brought a dish for a potluck meal...a few ladies pitched in together and bought chicken tenders.

Of course there were all different kinds of desserts....

One of our members, Beverly, brought a basket of charms that she had made, and passed it around for each of us to take one. They are pictures of quilt blocks in little frames. Cute!

We had a gift exchange of "pincushions made from something around the house".  There were some really clever ones.
This is Benita, she received a pincushion in a little ramekin, made to look like a cupcake!

Here is my favorite, a small cast iron skillet, with a fried egg pincushion...

Betty got this one that looks like a small blueberry pie...(matches her outfit too!)

That's Susan on the right. She got a pincushion on a mason jar lid, and the jar was filled with colorful bits of fabric.

Phyllis got the same thing - but a small mason jar, filled with sewing notions.

Shirley received a ceramic dog with a pincushion on his back. Aarf!

Here is Jackie, holding up her gift of a pincushion made inside a glasses case...

Teresa got a pincushion in a small picture frame...

There were lots more...all so creative!

When it was my turn to pick a gift, I chose the smallest sized present on the table...because tiny pincushions are cute.

This is what was inside -  a pincushion in a ceramic heart. Sweet!

And I received another gift...my friend, Janet, gave me this sparkly carved  Christmas ornament as a thank you for quilting those Kosair charity Christmas stockings a while back.  So nice and thoughtful of her!

After the gift exchange we played "fat quarter bingo"...the game where you trade a fat quarter (a quarter yard cut of fabric) for a bingo card.  She who gets "bingo" first, wins all the fat quarters.
One lucky quilter won twice!

Everyone enjoyed the day!
