Sugar Cookies
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well.
In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and baking powder.
Add dry ingredients to butter mixture and mix well until dough is formed.
Pinch off portions of dough and roll into balls about 1" in diameter. Roll the dough balls in sugar to coat.
Place on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 9 minutes. Take them out before they brown if you like them soft and chewy.
If you want to fancy them up for Christmas you can press the dough balls into colored sprinkles before baking.
Looks yummy Darla, will have to try these in a couple weeks when Tedi is around, wanting to bake. She loves to bake...Merry Christmas to you and Lonnie.....HUGS Diane
