The idea is to use them to prevent having to grab hold of a bowl that has gotten too hot in the microwave.
Or, they can be used to protect the table from a hot bowl or dish. Maybe even to use to keep your hand from freezing when eating bowl of ice cream while sitting on the couch watching TV!
Reversible and machine wash and dryable.
I believe there are instructions on the internet for making these. My quilt group friend just figured out how to make these by looking at one she received as a gift.
