trip to branson

We tried something a little different...a trip to Branson MO with Toby Tours.  The company lived up to their good reputation and we were quite happy with  the trip. Everything was well organized.

We left our car and boarded the bus about 15 minutes away from our home.

The "motorcoach" was clean and comfortable. There were small TV screens hanging from overhead and our tour director kept us entertained by playing comedy and documentary DVDs.

We passed through St Louis...

We had rest stops every couple of  hours for food and snacks or just to stretch our legs. We stopped near Springfield MO at Lambert's Cafe for dinner.

You see their sign says "home of the throwed rolls"?   It's true! There is someone pushing around a cart with hot rolls on it. If you want one, you wave your hands and he throws one to you!

Their food is served in big skillets. (This is grilled salmon)

All very gimmicky and touristy...and it was fun and the food was okay...but I would rather just have a meal on a regular plate without all the hoop-la.  They sure were busy, though...hordes of people waiting to get in.

We made it into Branson about 7:30 (with a 1 hour time change) to check in to our hotel...

There was still plenty of daylight left so we walked around the area a little. At the lakefront there are fountains with a music and light show at the top of each hour.

All kinds of activities for all ages going on, and streets filled with shops and restaurants.

Fun to see all the goings-on, but we were ready to crawl into these inviting looking beds!
