friend's quilt

Susan is in my quilting group that meets in the extension office. She recently brought in this king size Log Cabin quilt top she put together. She needed to push together several tables to spread it out for layering and pin basting.

I am in awe of her talent and skill,  When you look at her work, everything is matched perfectly and laying nicely flat.  Isn't this gorgeous?  She will be hand quilting it.

Susan told us she has always loved sewing.  As a young girl, she would use money she earned by babysitting, to buy fabric.
Now, even with working full time, she makes prize winning quilts and also embroidered and embellished pillows.

Here is a close up of the quilt. It's interesting to see that the light background is really made up of many different light colored fabrics.

Susan plans to finish the hand quilting in time to enter this quilt in the state fair this year. It looks like a winner to me!
