snake with a full tummy

The Sasquatch was heading to his refrigerator the other day and noticed through the door glass that something was a little different on his back porch.

Rat Snake !

He took a closer look and noticed the big bulge from a recent meal in the snake's middle.
Sort of an unusual thing to see.

Here is a closer shot.
Look at the size of the snake's head compared to the size of whatever he ate.

Last time the Sasquatch saw a snake it was in the house...stretched out across a step up from the kitchen.  He went ahead and killed that one, not wanting it to get away while he figured out what kind it was and how to get it out of there.

This one lived to digest it's meal. The Sasquatch just got some sticks and flipped it off the porch. He said it tried to crawl through a crack but couldn't make it because the fat spot would get stuck!

Rat Snakes are non venomous and a common snake in this area.  I read that they are good climbers and I think that's the kind that was crawling up the side of my house  last spring.

It's always a bit startling to come across a snake...whether you are scared of them or not.
