window washing time

April and October are window washing months here in darlaville.
That's every 6 months, but I have to admit I don't get around to all of them every time.

I use ammonia and hot water mixed up in this little red bucket ( it's 30 years old - it was one the boys used in the sand pile when they were little). One cloth to wash and a lint free cloth to dry.

The first 12 years we lived here window washing was a real chore. The windows were really 6 small panes of glass divided by wooden mullions.  That's 6 in the top section and 6 in the bottom section. In addition, there were metal framed storm windows and screens that had to be removed from their tracks in order to reach around and wash the outside of the windows.  It took forever to wash windows.

Now we have these double pane fold open windows. The washing job is a piece of cake...well maybe not a piece of cake but it is so much quicker and easier.

In this room I had to move the bed to get to the windows, which leads to vacuuming under the bed.
we had so many cords and plugs behind the bed...all covered in a big tumbleweed of dust bunnies. I was able to eliminate a couple, then slipped the remaining ones into this zip loc bag.
I can't see any harm in it and it should be easier to clean around.

Finished here, now to get the furniture back in place.

There are a few more upstairs to do...then the downstairs.  April is half over - I better get busy!
