false alarm

We had a little excitement yesterday morning.  We had just got up when our alarm system went off.  I rushed to turn it off and saw that the display said our upstairs smoke detector had triggered.  We looked around and there was no smoke or fire...no problem.

Shortly, someone from the alarm monitoring station called to tell us the fire department was on the way!   I told her there wasn't a problem and asked if she could cancel the fire department  run.

Apparently it was too late because a few minutes later here comes a fire truck...sirens and all.

I walked out to the driveway to explain the whole thing but they really wanted to come in to be on the safe side.  Sheesh!
So they all came in and looked in every room of the house and basement.

I apologized for the false alarm and told them it was comforting to know they respond so quickly. They were all very nice and polite and said to be sure to call if we noticed or smelled any smoke.

All this before I even had a cup of coffee!

What a way to start the day!
