In the past few years we have had a mix of good and bad experiences when eating there. I believe most of the problems stem from their inability to get good employees.
Another aggravation is the way they charge extra for things like pickles and onions for a sandwich...and no free refills on soft drinks etc.
This time was one of the better experiences. We each had a fish sandwich.
BIG, isn't it? It should be - they charge nearly $10 for it !
Maybe that's not so bad if you figure that you will take half of it home for another meal. (not saying we didn't eat every bite right there though).
They also have a large partly shaded area outside with picnic tables. If you want to eat out there you place your order at the bar and they call your name to pick up your food when it's ready. I think we might try sitting out there if the weather is mild next time we come here.
Inside is loud and echo-y...a lot of scraping of metal chairs on tile...bus boys clanking bottles and forks together in their tubs as they clear tables.
The fish was good though!
Sounds like you had the same experience as us. The waiter gave Ashton, Marilyn's granddaughter, a small Teddybear to cheer her up but the flakey pricing, long wait time, plates arriving one at a time, long drive, and less than homey atmosphere means we won't be coming back. Next time we want fish we'll hit the Moby Dick's drivethru...
